Free for personal and educational use.

Use nfield for personal work, study, education, and noncommercial research. If you’re using it in commercial work, including commercial research, contact me about a license.

Software

The software uses the PolyForm Noncommercial License 1.0.0. That covers src/, verify/, test/, and the root build files.

The license permits use by educational institutions and public research organizations regardless of how they are funded. A research grant does not, by itself, make a commercial license necessary.

Lean proofs

The Lean source in proofs/ is open source under Apache 2.0. It does not require a commercial nfield license.

Research support

If your group has the resources to support nfield’s development, I’d welcome that conversation. Support is voluntary for uses already permitted by the license.

Get in touch

Tell me what you want to use, how you plan to use it, and whether the code will be distributed to anyone else. For commercial use, I can then work out a license for that use.

The license contains the exact terms. No commercial rights are granted until we have a written agreement.
